‘Sistas’ Producer Courtney Glaudé Set As First Filmmaker Joining Tyler Perry Studios’ Maxscene Division

EXCLUSIVE: Courtney Glaudé is the first filmmaker joining Tyler Perry Studios‘ newly launched Maxscene, a specialty division dedicated to expanding theatrical opportunities for filmmakers with distinctive voices. Glaudé has set his first film release through Maxscene, Conditioned. He is the writer and director of the psychological thriller, with a release date teased for early 2027.

Glaudé is a writer, producer and director currently helming three Perry-created series: Sistas, its spinoff Zatima, and the crime drama Ruthless. He was tapped in 2024 as Executive Creator of Scripted and Unscripted as part of a new overall deal with Tyler Perry Studios. Through the deal, he has developed and produced both scripted and unscripted content for television and film for the studio.

“Courtney is exactly the kind of filmmaker we envisioned Maxscene championing. He’s a multi-hyphenate writer, director, and producer with a clear point of view and a real command of grounded storytelling. His films are rooted in reality, but there’s always a darkness underneath that pulls you in and stays with you long after the credits roll,” shared Antoinetta Stallings, Head of Development & Acquisitions at Tyler Perry Studios.

She continued, “With Conditioned, he’s using tension and psychological unease to explore deeply human issues that many people may not want to talk about but absolutely need to. We are excited to be working with Courtney and look forward to bringing his projects to audiences through Maxscene.”

Glaudé’s additional credits include serving as the writer and director of the short film, Old Gray Mare, which won the Best Film, Best Director, and Best Script Awards at the BronzeLens Awards; was nominated for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival; and screened at The American Black Film Festival, The Martha’s Vineyard African-American Film Festival, and the Atlanta Film Festival. His critically acclaimed feature directorial debut, The Reading, executive produced by Lee Daniels, premiered on BET+ in February 2023.
