Sharqiya Governorate imposes total ban on tree cutting to save greenery

Felling trees across Sharqiya is now strictly prohibited under a total ban issued by Governor Hazem al-Ashmouny, who warned that penalties will be taken against anyone found violating the decree.

This enforcement measure is part of a broader crackdown to protect existing greenery and support nationwide efforts to combat environmental degradation.

Under the new directive, provincial authorities are expanding green spaces, utilizing vacant land along major thoroughfares, and revitalizing town entrances across Sharqiya’s municipalities and villages.

Ground teams have been deployed to oversee regular irrigation, structured pruning, and the planting of new trees as part of the presidential initiative to expand green zones across Egyptian governorates.

Al-Ashmouny emphasized that safeguarding urban foliage and expanding the province’s ecological footprint are essential to raising living standards, curbing pollution, and modernizing the region’s urban landscape.
