  • World's biggest automaker Toyota Motor (TM) said on Thursday that global vehicle sales and production fell for the third consecutive month in September, weighed down by declines in China and the Middle East.
  • The company saw global sales fall 2.2% from a year earlier to 860,107 vehicles, while production dropped 3.2% to 889,079 vehicles.
  • Toyota said sales in China dropped 19.7%, marking an eighth straight month of decline, as higher petrol prices dampened demand for petrol-powered and hybrid vehicles.
  • Sales in the Middle East, meanwhile, fell 29.8%, while they rose 1.8% in Japan and 8.4% in the US, Toyota's top market.
