Body with parts removed found near Plateau market

A mutilated human body has been found behind the Monday Market in Pankshin, Plateau State, on Tuesday, leaving residents of the community shocked.
The identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding his death were unknown as of Tuesday evening.
Residents told journalists that the corpse was discovered in the early hours of Tuesday behind the market.
Johnson Dawul, a resident, said some parts of the deceased’s body, including his genitals, had been removed.
“We woke up this morning to see the corpse lying behind the Monday Market. It was a shocking sight,” Mr Dawul said.
Another resident, who confirmed the discovery, said nobody in the area could immediately identify the deceased or explain how he died.
“Nobody knows who the man is and nobody knows what happened to him. When we saw the body, we immediately alerted security personnel,” the resident said.
According to the resident, police officers later arrived at the scene and took away the remains.
The discovery has caused concern among residents, who are awaiting clarification from security authorities on the circumstances surrounding the death.

The Plateau State Police Command had not publicly commented on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
The command’s spokesperson, Alfred Alabo, a superintendent of police, did not respond to calls and messages seeking confirmation and further details about the incident.
It was also unclear whether anyone had been arrested in connection with the death.
