Yuliya Geikhman has been writing professionally for over 17 years. She started out in the MMO scene with Pando Media Booster and now dives into everything gaming at Screen Rant. She's a lifelong gamer, a relentless industry sleuth, and a passionate follower of everything happening in the games industry.

Many video games and franchises are getting their own trading cards and other physical games recently, and books aren't far behind. The super-popular Dungeon Crawler Carl series, for instance, announced a trading card game earlier this year. Meanwhile, AMC is running a fundraiser to create a TTPRG based on Anne Rice's classic Interview with the Vampire.

These two aren't the only books making the leap to physical gaming in 2026. Earlier this year, The Hobbit made a debut on Magic! The Gathering cards, while The Lord of the Rings as a whole, now has a Trick-Taking game for board and card game enthusiasts. As we near the end of the year, several other books and series are launching physical cards, tabletop RPGs, and even other physical games based in the game worlds.

Horror on the Orient Express isn't an adaptation of just one book. Instead, it merges two classic authors' works into one beautifully haunted board game: Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express and H. P. Lovecraft's Call of Cthulhu.

In this Kickstarter-backed game, 1-4 players board the Orient Express and step back in time to the 1920s. As you travel through the Dreamlands, you encounter crazed cultists and bloodthirsty monsters from the Cthulhu mythos.

There's plenty to explore on every playthrough, with an impressive collection of 100 cards, 196 tokens, 37 miniatures, 26 train pieces, and 226 other gameplay elements.

Horror on the Orient Express comes with a beautiful game board, cards, tokens, and an actual train. The game adapts the Call of Cthulhu TTRPG to a more visual and tactile medium, and is sure to be a hit with fans of both franchises, board games, and tabletop RPGs.

Dune: Imperium - Conspiracy Expansion

Releases On October 31

The Dune: Imperium board game is a strategic deck-building adaptation of the novels by Frank Herbert. The base game was released in 2020, and has become a favorite among both Dune and board game fans.

This Halloween, the game receives a highly anticipated expansion centered around conspiracies. As the reign of Paul Muad’Dib over the Imperium continues to spread war and unrest, conspiracies have cropped up that threaten to topple him from power. The expansion will let players raid planets, wield conspiracies with long-lasting consequences, and even band together with other players to take down the Emperor.

You do need the base game to play this, but if you're a fan of the politics and strategy in the book series, this game may appeal to you. The expansion will work with both the original Dune: Imperium and the 2023 Uprising variant, and it will be compatible with all expansions.

Cosmere RPG: Mistborn

Releases On November 4

Mistborn books in the Cosmere RPG

Cosmere RPG takes players into the books of Brandon Sanderson's fantasy books. The d20-based RPG launched its first campaign in 2025 in the Stormlight Archive book setting. This November, Cosmere RPG expands to the popular Mistborn books.

The game builds on a typical tabletop RPG system, giving players more freedom. You can raise the stakes on any encounter, customize your character with skills from any class, be creative in how you use your powers, and more.

The new expansion will include three separate guides that will guide you through the lore and gameplay, and which will place players in the world of Scadriel. The adventure begins in the Final Empire, but also includes a second phase that takes place many centuries after the empire's collapse.

The Lord of the Rings: Circle of Conflict

Releases On November 13

Circle of Conflict tabletop game 2

The Lord of the Rings has been turned into many different types of games, both physical and digital. Circle of Conflict is the classic series' latest entry into physical gaming.

The new tabletop RPG takes place during the Third Age of Middle-earth, in the middle of a great war. Two to four players will be able to control both The Shadow and the Free Peoples armies against their fellow players as they battle for control over nations.

The game pits your strategic prowess, asking you to simultaneously attack and defend from your fellow players. The Free Peoples is tasked with helping the Fellowship reach their destination or defeat the Shadow. The Shadow, on the other hand, is constantly trying to defeat or corrupt your opponents' Fellowship.

Along your adventures, you'll be able to recruit iconic characters from the series. Both LOTR and TTRPG fans will be able to enjoy this title, which has you juggling two different tasks and working against your opponents.

Fourth Wing: Formations

Releases On November 30

Fourth Wing Formations gameplay layout

Rebecca Yarros' epic fantasy series Fourth Wing is shifting to physical form in late November. Fourth Wing: Formations is a strategy-based card game that adapts the standard 54-card deck with series-specific elements.

Become a general and coordinate the Riders, Scribes, Infantry, and Healers to protect Navarre in this variation of Kings in the Corner. As a bonus, you can actually use these cards to play any standard card game.

This is actually not the first time Fourth Wing has made it into a physical game. The Priorities card game has players making in-universe choices and sparking debates, while Rise of the Wingleader sends you into the Riders Quadrant to battle for power, rise up the ranks, and command the iconic dragons of the series.

Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG And Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable

Releases In November 2026

The incredibly popular Dungeon Crawler Carl is launching two physical game projects in November: the card-based deck-building title DCC: Unstoppable and the tabletop DCC RPG.

Both games were crowdfunded into existence and plunge players into the World Dungeon. The TTRPG has a rulebook of over 300 pages of lore, skills, characters, environments, and more.

If that sounds like too much, the Unstoppable card game is a solo or two-player game that's easier to jump into. The card game will take you through the first three floors in the World Dungeon, with an ever-evolving labyrinthine gameplay.

Plus, any experiences you have here will carry over to the next floors when the followup expansions are released in this Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG.
