Tokyo Game Show 2026 reported an in-person attendance of 257,642 over the course of four days (September 17-20). The number is a slight decrease from last year's in-person attendance of 263,101 attendees. (The event counts a person who attended all four days four times, once for each day.)

The first public day (September 19) had the biggest number of in-person attendees with 78,678, followed by the second public day (September 20) with 72,789 attendees. 53,630 people attended on the first business day (September 17), and 52,545 attended on the second business day (September 18). The event cancelled the third in-person public day (September 21) due to a typhoon.

Tokyo Game Show 2026 featured the theme "The Longest Ever, Five Days Full of Play." At the in-person venue, 1,138 companies and organizations from 53 countries and regions exhibited their latest products. For the online portion, a total of 25 online streaming programs were viewable on Tokyo Game Show's official YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), and Twitch accounts, as well as online platforms such as niconico. The event also streamed on DouYu and bilibili for China, and on IGN for Europe and North America.

Next year's Tokyo Game Show will run from September 16 to 20 with the in-person venue again at Makuhari Messe. The organizers are planning for a five-day event, as they had initially planned for this year for the first time.

The event will refund those who purchased tickets for Monday. The organizers are planning to stream some of the stage events scheduled for Monday.

This year would have marked the first time the event was being held across five total days. September 17-18 were business days, and September 19-21 were planned as public days. (September 21 is a national holiday in Japan.)

Tokyo Game Show began as a three-day event in 1996, expanded to two annual events (spring and fall) in 1997, shrank back to one annual three-day event in 2002, and expanded to a four-day event in 2007.

Typhoon No. 25 (Typhoon Dujuan) is currently expected to approach Japan's Kanto region on Monday.
