Chord Energy (CHRD) said Monday it appointed Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Commercial Officer Michael Lou as its new President and CEO, effective immediately, succeeding Danny Brown, who is departing to become President and CEO of Expand Energy (EXE).
Lou has more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including 17 years in various positions of leadership at Chord Energy (CHRD) and its predecessor companies.
He was named Executive VP, Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Commercial Officer in March 2024 after serving as the company's CFO during 2022-24; previously, he was CFO and Executive VP for Oasis Petroleum and its subsidiaries from 2011.
Brown will take the helm at Expand Energy (EXE), beginning October 26, while interim President and CEO Michael Wichterich will return to his role as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board.
Brown was Chord Energy's (CHRD) first CEO after originally leading Oasis Petroleum before its merger with Whiting Petroleum in July 2022; previously, he spent nearly 20 at Anadarko Petroleum, where he held leadership roles spanning international and deepwater development, as well as U.S. onshore operations.
