Leaks reveal a new Apple HomePod mini, iPad mini, and Apple TV 4K

Apple is expected to announce more hardware before the end of the year following the debut of the iPhone 18 Pro and folding iPhone Duo earlier this month. The updated products will include a new version of the HomePod mini, the iPad mini 8, and the Apple TV 4K, according to details and images discovered in Apple’s own code by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris.

Details from the leaks are sparse, but the HomePod Mini 2 will carry forward a similar design to the original model that debuted in late 2020. While the current model is available in bright color options including orange, yellow, and blue, the leaked images of the HomePod Mini 2 reveal new green, pink, blue, white, and black shades that are more subdued and better suited to blending into existing decor.

The new iPad mini 8 will replace the seventh-generation model that launched two years ago with an upgrade from Apple’s A17 Pro chip to the recently announced A20 Pro found in the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone Duo. The leaked images only show the front of the iPad mini 8, but Apple has moved its front-facing camera to the landscape edge of the tablet, while a groove on the top edge of the display, similar to the iPhone’s, seems to indicate an added speaker.

As previously reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the next version of the iPad could also include improved waterproofing thanks to a new vibration-based speaker, and an OLED display like the larger iPad Pro features.

The current version of the Apple TV is nearly four years old, but today’s leaks don’t give much away about what upgrades the new 4th generation version will include aside from a very similar design to its predecessor. Previous details uncovered by MacRumors’ Perris include a potential upgrade to Apple’s A17 Pro chip, while in 2024 Mark Gurman said the next Apple TV would use Apple’s in-house Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chip we now know as the N1.
