Translate

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will present Khazanah Nasional Bhd's paper on its Megatrends Forum 2026 to the Cabinet this Friday.

The forum, themed "Who's Got the Power? Watching the Watchmen in an Imbalanced World", examines how power is distributed and exercised amid growing global imbalances.

Anwar said the forum would explore major trends surrounding the shifting nature of power and their implications for governments, economies and institutions.

"This forum, although refrained from discussing the source of power. I'm saying, interestingly enough, I will present your initial paper on the Megatrends in the forum.

"I'm presenting it to the Cabinet meeting this Friday," he said in his opening remarks.

The forum brings together policymakers, business leaders, investors, academics and other stakeholders to examine major global trends and their implications for Malaysia, the region and the global economy.

Its theme looks beyond headline issues such as trade, climate change, inequality and artificial intelligence, raising questions over who sets the rules, controls resources, bears the costs and benefits from the outcomes.

The "Watching the Watchmen" concept also highlights the need for accountability, with powerful individuals and institutions expected to remain open to scrutiny and challenge.
