The AFC Asian Cup 2027 is the latest sporting event which has been impacted by the recent attacks in Saudi Arabia and unrest in the Gulf region.
On Tuesday, the local organising committee announced that the 19th edition of the tournament had been postponed to December in light of “exceptional circumstances”.
Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis have targeted Saudi infrastructure, including airports, since hostilities resumed.
The Houthis are fighting a Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognised government, a civil war that reignited in July following a years-long truce.
