Gulbadin Naib-led Afghanistan beat Australia by four wickets in the final of the Hong Kong Sixes 2026 at the Mission Road Ground on Sunday.

Australia posted 115 for four after winning the toss and opting to bat with opener Max Bryant blazing his way to a 14-ball 44. Nick Robson and Alex Ross chipped in with contributions worth 23 and 29 runs, respectively.

Karim Janat bowled two overs for Afghanistan and picked two wickets for 27 runs.

Janat and Naib opened Afghanistan’s reply but were back in the dugout inside the first two overs with Afghanistan still only at 32.

Farmanullah Safi and Imran Mir (53* off 14 balls) then added 87 runs off just 21 balls for the third wicket to take Afghanistan past the finish line with five balls to spare.
