It is a good time to be a fan of The Legend of Zelda. Not only is there a live-action movie set to hit cinemas in April 2027, but Nintendo has also given fans the long-awaited news that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is finally set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 in just a few weeks' time.

Of course, this year also celebrates the 40th anniversary of the beloved Nintendo franchise, and so celebrations are in full swing, but whilst we wait for the highly anticipated movie and Ocarina of Time Remake, there is something else to look forward to in the meantime.

Although Nintendo has officially wrapped up its "Wilds duology", consisting of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, fans are still eager to learn more about the Zelda entries that completely turned the franchise on its head with an expansive open-world and brand-new art style.

Luckily, they can do so thanks to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom—Secrets of the Zonai, a companion book to the beloved sequel, which was originally expected to launch this year, and has now been delayed to 2027.

Initially planned for an October 30 release, the companion book by Dark Horse will instead head to shelves March 30, 2027. In an official statement over on Twitter/X, Dark Horse shared, "Thank you for your patience as we prepare the highest standard of quality that you have come to expect and deserve.”

However, alongside the statement, Dark Horse also shared an image of the book's front cover, and it is safe to say that it is stunning. Featuring a patterned black background with green accents, an incredibly detailed decal featuring some of our favorite characters from Tears of the Kingdom is seen front and center.

Secrets of the Zonai Book Dark Horse Direct

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom—Secrets of the Zonai aims to dive into the background, creation, and world of the Breath of the Wild sequel. It is also set to include exclusive concept art, interviews with its creators, and a history section that covers the Zonai people.

Additionally, the sourcebook launches in two editions: Standard and Hero's Edition. The Standard edition contains the 472-page hardcover book, whilst the latter comes with an exclusive cover, art print of Link and the Sages, a cloth map of Hyrule depths, and a Princess Zelda Tear replica.

Back in 2024, this concept book was already released in Japan as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom—Master Works, but this will be the first time that it receives an English translation and release. So, if you want to learn more about the history, creation and inspiration behind The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, look no further than this stunning release which hits shelves next March. Will this be the final farewell for the Wilds era, which has dominated Zelda since 2017? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
