Translate

Coronation Street star Kelli Hollis has addressed her return to the soap as Paula, the ex-con who bullied Debbie Webster in prison. Paula will be back on the cobbles next week, where she'll get in an argument with Debbie at the Chariot Square Hotel.

Fans will remember that Paula initially held a grudge against Debbie after being previously kicked out of the hotel.

On TikTok, Kelli shared a video captioned: "Paula’s back on the cobbles next week! No spoilers… but trust me, it’s not going to be plain sailing. Tune in to find out."

The actor told fans: "I'm back, obviously I couldn’t say anything.

"If you know, obviously I did a little stint on Corrie at the beginning of the year in jail with poor Debbie – and after those episodes they booked me for some more episodes, and they’ve started sharing stuff today.

"So obviously I can't tell you what's going to happen or what's going on, but let's face it, it's Paula so it ain't going to be good is it?"

Spoilers for next week's episodes have shown that Debbie will risk her relationship with husband Ronnie Bailey by chatting up another man.

After the couple experience problems in the bedroom, Ronnie confides in his brother Ed about how Debbie's dementia could affect their sex life.

But a rejected Debbie decides to flirt with Stan, the fiancé of her bridal client Denise, at the hotel, offering him some red wine and declaring that her husband doesn't fancy her anymore.

However, Ronnie soon arrives to catch Debbie in action, just before she realises she's booked the wrong month for Denise's wedding, forcing Ryan Connor to step in.

Denise then catches Debbie arguing with Paula in the hallway and demands her deposit back.

Vinta Morgan, who plays Ronnie, explained: "One of the things that makes Debbie who she is, is the identity she has when she's at work. For her not to be able to experience that, Ronnie thinks will make her decline much faster.

"So, there's this balance of trying to keep her in there doing what she's doing, while trying to navigate the choppy waters that occur when she might go off on a tangent because of the dementia. Unfortunately, those incidents are becoming more frequent."

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
