Assassin’s Creed Legend Ezio Auditore Is Officially Returning For A New Game

Known as 'Cyberpunk 2077's' biggest fan, Angharad is a Welsh games writer who thrives in anything related to digital storytelling. If a video game explores the intricacies and horrors of womanhood, she is there.
Thanks to previous work at GAMINGbible, GameByte, The Loadout, Game Luster, Angharad has built a strong understanding of both the digital world and what fans want from it and is eager to share her thoughts and expertise with readers.
The Assassin's Creed franchise may have been a constant companion of gamers since its first entry launched way back in 2007, but with 14 mainline installments under its belt, with the majority of them featuring a brand-new assassin at the helm, it is no wonder that we all have our favorites.
Although Assassin's Creed Origin's Bayek is a top contender, as is Assassin Creed IV: Black Flag's Edward Kenway, there is no denying that one particular assassin still has the biggest fanbase to this day: Ezio Auditore da Firenze.
First introduced back in 2009 in Assassin's Creed 2, Ezio became so loved by fans that he also starred in both Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed Revelations. Not only that, but his story was also continued in the short films Assassin's Creed: Lineage (2009), Ascendance (2010), and Embers (2011).
The love for the cheeky Italian assassin has been ongoing for almost two decades, and with this upcoming release, it seems as though our Ezio is about to be in the spotlight once more.
Created by Mantic Games and beginning its life as a Kickstarter campaign that managed to earn a whopping £274,425 towards its production, Assassin's Creed® Animus - The Board Game does exactly what it says on the tin and offers fans of the Ubisoft franchise the chance to experience the exploits of their favorite assassins in a TTRPG format.
Perfect for 1-4 players, gameplay will consist of stepping into the shoes of the series' most iconic assassins, as well as exploring the past, eliminating targets, and racing to make a mark on history itself. As you take on the role of legendary assassins, it will be up to you to hunt members of the Templar Order throughout various periods of history and, with up to ten eras to explore, the replayability options are endless.
"Assassin’s Creed: Animus is a game of adventure and rivalry, where each player enters the memories of a legendary assassin with unique abilities and goals," the official description reads. "You'll choose a character with their own era, skills, equipment, and playstyle that shapes your experience. Spend actions to move across the spaces of your era board, investigating special locations to gain their effects, and seeking out your enemies... Once four targets are eliminated by a single player, the assassin with the highest score (earned through their speed, precision, and tactical play) claims victory."
The most basic pledge, titled the Initiate Pledge, will feature six playable eras, and joining the likes of Altaïr, Connor, Eivor, Edward, and Naoe will be none other than Ezio himself as players reimagine his exploits from both Assassin's Creed 2 and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.
Set to begin shipping to customers this October, Assassin's Creed® Animus - The Board Game is the perfect way to revisit some of your favorite Assassin's Creed games in a brand-new format.
