2027: Igboho declares support for Osun Accord Reps candidate

Yoruba nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, on Sunday, declared his support for the candidate for the House of Representatives under the Accord in Osun State, Pelumi Olajengbesi, for 2027.

Olajengbesi is seeking election for Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the 2027 election.

Igboho, the founder of the Iru Ekun security outfit with a presence in some South-West states, announced this when Olajengbesi paid a visit to his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.

A statement issued by Olajengbesi’s media office and forwarded to The PUNCH in Ibadan, the state capital, said Igboho journeyed down memory lane and recounted how Olajengbesi offered legal representation for him when the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari raided his Ibadan residence in July 2021 and detained him in Benin Republic, where he had escaped after the raid.

The PUNCH reports that Olajengbesi, who served as campaign spokesperson for the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osun State, is currently seeking to represent Oriade-Obokun Federal Constituency.

Olajengbesi would be contesting against the current All Progressives Congress representative, Wole Oke, in 2027.

However, Igboho said, “It’s important to have a change in representation in the constituency. Pelumi is a breath of fresh air.

“It shall be well with you, my lawyer. When things were very tough during the tenure of the then President Muhammadu Buhari and I was locked up in Benin Republic, you stayed with me and gave me your full support till I was released. You didn’t ask me for money.

“Also, when I wanted to do my mother’s burial, and the government threatened to arrest me, Pelumi came to my aid; he intervened and approached the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, to let me be, insisting I was innocent.

“Pelumi stood by me in a lot of ways without billing me. He also followed me to all the government offices I visited when I came back from exile to facilitate my reintegration.

“Pelumi stood by me in a lot of ways, including in the formation of Iru Ekun Security Network, and may God crown all his efforts.

“I am supporting his ambition for Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency with everything that I have. You stood by me during my difficult season, and I will rally support for your campaign to emerge victorious in the next election. However, I want to implore you to fulfil your campaign promises to the good people of Oriade-Obokun Federal Constituency.”

Earlier, the Accord candidate, Olajengbesi, said, “The constituency requires vibrant youth representation and a departure from what he described as the recycling of old ideas.”

He, therefore, pledged to provide effective representation and pursue programmes that would promote development across the constituency if elected in the 2027 elections.
