Black Clover Joins Fortnite Battle Royale for Annual Fortnightmares Event
Epic Games announced on Saturday that the Black Clover anime is appearing in its Fortnite Battle Royale video game for the annual Fortnitemares event. The announcement featured Black Clover characters Asta, Yuno, and Noelle as player cosmetic skins with the caption, “Don't lose hope in the nightmare.”
Asta, Yuno, and Noelle are now in the Fortnite Shop, which tells fans, “Take on the Island's curses with the help and magic of your friends!”
Epic Games teased the Black Clover collaboration in the Fortnitemares trailer on September 29. The trailer briefly shows the Asta player cosmetic in Asta's Devil Form.
The Fortnite Battle RoyaleBlack Clover player cosmetics include the Asta, Yuno, and Noelle skins; Asta's Grimoire, Asta's Devils Wings, Yuno's Grimoire, and Noelle's Grimoire back bling; Asta's Demon-Slayer Sword, Spirit of Boreas, and Noelle's Wand pickaxes; and the Anti-Magic weapon wrap. A Nissan GT-R Nismo + Black Clover car body and two Anti-Magic tires are also available for players to purchase.
Yūki Tabata created Black Clover in 2015 and initially serialized it in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The manga moved to the quarterly Jump Giga magazine in 2023 until its conclusion this past spring. Viz Media released the manga digitally and in print, and Shueisha's MANGA Plus service released the manga digitally.
The Black Clover anime premiered in Japan in October 2017. The show was originally listed with 51 episodes, but it continued into a new season with episode 52 in October 2018. The anime series saw one more season in October 2019. Crunchyroll streamed the series in Japanese with English subtitles, and Funimation streamed the series' English dub. The anime debuted on Adult Swim's Toonami programming block in December 2017. The 170th episode aired in March 2021.
The feature-length film Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King (Black Clover: Mahо̄tei no Ken) opened in 2023, and Netflix debuted the film on its service on June 16, 2023.
The new season of Black Clover debuted on Saturday, with Studio Pierrot returning to animate. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime.
