Kansas City Chiefs' roster concerns linger as they host the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football

Josh Simmons is not expected to start at Tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Denver Broncos in their Week 1 opener, and the Broncos are expecting Patrick Mahomes to be at 100%. Nick Wright, Chris Broussard, Kevin Wildes, and Danny Parkins ask if the Chiefs should be concerned, and if the New England Patriots can avenge their Super Bowl LX loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Monday Night Football is here for the first time with the new season. We got some great games yesterday, including our first major upset and our first overtime game. Interestingly enough, I had both of those games in a teaser play that I shared and we lost. The other play, on the Raiders, was a sweat-free victory. Overall, it wasn't a terrible day; let's see if we can close out this week with a win as the Broncos take on the Chiefs.

The Denver Broncos are coming into the season with expectations of being one of the best teams in football. Last season, they were an injured quarterback and a couple of different plays away from getting to the Super Bowl. The defense was one of the best in football last season, locking down almost every team they played. On offense, Bo Nix took a big step forward, and now they've added Jaylen Waddle to the mix to give themselves an added option at receiver.

The team went 14-3 last season, and in the playoffs, they survived to pass the Bills in overtime. In the Conference Finals, they lost 10-7 to the Patriots with Jarrett Stidham under center. Of course, like most teams, you still have to assume the success or failure of the club falls on Bo Nix. This is Nix's third season in the league, and he is coming off an ankle injury. Last year, he produced about the same as his rookie year, but the team was significantly better. I'm interested to see what they can do to boost Nix a bit more this season. They tend to be a run-first team, but with Waddle and the other options, there is a chance this passing game can be dynamic.

The Kansas City Chiefs had a rough season last year, but with so much success from the organization for many years in a row, it was hard to replicate it. The Chiefs ended last season with a record of 6-11. Before you go and blame it on Patrick Mahomes getting injured, which did happen, he played in all but three games last year, and the team was 6-8 in those games. It just seemed like the team never could get anything going on offense, and their defense wasn't good enough.

As the team gets older and salary cap issues arise, the Chiefs will need to figure out a way to adjust their roster to stay competitive with Mahomes. For multiple seasons, they've really just relied on Mahomes being great and Travis Kelce being his security blanket. The wide receiver room was always somewhat ignored. Sure, they have Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice, but neither of those guys is quite as good as you'd want when you have the best quarterback in football (debate it all you want, but he's won three Super Bowls and been to five in eight years as a starter).

I get that the Chiefs will be a public team, and that they are the home team. Taking an inter-division home dog is usually a good bet, but the Chiefs are the favorite tonight. The Broncos have a vastly superior defense in my ranks. Both quarterbacks are coming off of injury to return to this one. I feel like the under, especially in the first half (21.5), is a great look. I also am going to play the Broncos to win this game. I think they are better and I'm not convinced the Chiefs made the changes needed to win this season.
