Sir Gary Oldman and Zendaya among Emmy nominees as The Pitt tipped for win

Sir Gary Oldman, Jack Lowden and Zendaya are among the 2026 Emmy nominees, in a ceremony where HBO Max drama The Pitt is tipped for victory with 25 nods.

Oscar-winning actor Sir Gary is up for outstanding lead actor in a drama series for his starring role as veteran MI5 agent Jackson Lamb in hit Apple TV series Slow Horses, which has secured nine nominations overall.

The spy drama, which is based on the Slough House book series by British writer Mick Herron, follows a dysfunctional team of intelligence agents who end up in an MI5 “dumping ground” department at Slough House.

It marks Sir Gary’s third nomination in the category for his role in the show, and he will compete against Paradise actor Sterling K Brown, Task star Mark Ruffalo, The Diplomat’s Rufus Sewell and The Pitt actor Noah Wyle.

The actors will battle it out on Monday night in a ceremony hosted by Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay.

Slow Horses received nine nominations overall, and Sir Gary’s co-star Lowden is up for a prize in the outstanding supporting actor category for his role as agent River Cartwright.

The Scottish actor, 36, will battle it out against several stars of medical drama The Pitt, including Patrick Ball, Shawn Hatosy and Gerran Howell, as well as Billy Crudup, Tom Pelphrey and Carlos-Manuel Vesga.

Elsewhere, Zendaya has been recognised in the category for outstanding lead actress in a drama series, for her role as teenage drug addict Rue Bennett in Euphoria – which concluded earlier this year with an explosive finale.

The Hollywood actress, 30, will compete against Chase Infiniti, Rhea Seehorn, Keri Russell and Carrie Coon for the prize, while day-in-the-life emergency room series The Pitt has led the nominees with 25 nods.

The show has taken the TV world by storm since its launch last year, and has been acknowledged in categories including drama series, and taken four of the seven supporting actress spots and three supporting actor slots.

It is closely followed by the final season of Hacks, which received 24 nominations including in the comedy series category, where it will compete against the likes of Abbott Elementary, The Bear and Widow’s Bay.

Only Murders In The Building is also up for a prize, with its star Martin Short nominated for lead actor in a comedy series, and is joined by Margo’s Got Money Troubles, whose stars Elle Fanning and Michelle Pfeiffer also got acting nominations.

Elsewhere, the Shrinking nominations included supporting actor in a comedy for Harrison Ford, and he is competing in the category against castmate Michael Urie, while their co-star Jason Segel is up for lead actor.

Jason Bateman got four nominations, for both Black Rabbit and DTF St. Louis, while Scottish star Richard Gadd, known for hit series Baby Reindeer, is up for a prize for his TV drama Half Man.

The Emmy Awards, which are America’s most coveted TV honours, has also seen the US version of hit reality show The Traitors receive a nod in the reality competition category, along with the likes of RuPaul’s Drag Race and Dancing With The Stars.

Rob Reiner was previously announced as a winner at the Creative Arts Emmys earlier this month, and received the award for outstanding guest actor in a comedy for his role in an episode of The Bear.

The award comes almost a year after the Spinal Tap director, 78, and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, 70, were found dead from apparent stab wounds in their home in Los Angeles.

Their son Nick, 33, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

The 78th annual Emmy Awards ceremony will be held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California on Monday.
