Bursa Malaysia opened lower on Friday, tracking continued weakness on Wall Street as the prolonged US-Iran conflict and high crude oil prices weighed on sentiment, an analyst said.

At 9.10 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 3.73 points, or 0.21%, to 1,701.79 from Thursday’s close of 1,705.52.

The index opened 0.23 points lower at 1,705.29.

Market breadth was subdued, with losers outnumbering gainers 256 to 164. A total of 295 counters were unchanged, 2,116 untraded and 32 suspended.

Turnover stood at 283.38 million shares worth RM144.77 million.
