The slogan, “Tinubu Must Go,” reverberated across the venue of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential campaign flag-off in Sokoto on Wednesday, as supporters of the opposition party expressed opposition to President Bola Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The chant echoed repeatedly among supporters gathered along Illorin Road in Sokoto metropolis, where the party’s presidential candidate, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, was expected to address the rally.

Many of the supporters, who reportedly travelled from different parts of the state, chanted the slogan in calls for political change and an end to the current administration.

The protest slogan also reflected the grievances expressed by some opposition supporters over the economic challenges and security concerns confronting the country.

The rally provided a platform for the ADC to mobilise its supporters and communicate its political message as opposition parties intensify activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development also highlighted the party’s efforts to expand its grassroots support in Sokoto State and challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, as of the time of filing this report, the ADC presidential campaign train was yet to arrive at the rally venue from the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto, reportedly due to the large crowd that had gathered along the route.

The party’s campaign flag-off is part of its nationwide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
