Babcock VC urges graduating students to embrace new opportunities

The President/Vice-Chancellor of Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, Prof. Olutunde Ojewole, has urged graduating students of Babcock University Schools, Ogba, Lagos, to see graduation not as an end but as the beginning of new opportunities, growth and greater responsibilities.

A statement by the school on Friday said Ojewole gave the charge at the 11th Graduation, Prize and Awards Ceremony of Babcock University Schools, Ogba, held at the school’s auditorium.

Represented by the Chairperson of the Babcock University Schools Management Board, Prof. Ruth Aderanti, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated the graduating students and urged them to allow the knowledge, values and experiences acquired during their time at the institution to guide them as they pursue higher education and their future aspirations.

He said, “Graduation is not an end but the beginning of new opportunities, growth and greater responsibilities.”

Ojewole also commended the management and staff of Babcock University Schools, Ogba, for their efforts in preparing the students for the future, while appreciating their parents and guardians for entrusting their children to the institution.

He wished the graduating students continued success, good health, wisdom and excellence in their future endeavours.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Principal of Babcock University Schools, Ogba, Elder Adeniran Adebayo, described the graduating set, tagged “TITANS 2K26,” as a remarkable group.

According to him, the name Titan represents “strength, greatness, courage and dominance,” while the set colours, black and purple, symbolise confidence, excellence, dignity and royalty.

He said their slogan, “Stand Tall, Rule All,” was more than a statement, describing it as a call to responsibility and a reminder that true greatness is achieved through character, discipline, humility and service.

Adebayo charged the students to remember that they were leaving the school with more than certificates and academic knowledge.
He said, “You are not only carrying certificates and academic knowledge, you are carrying the values and principles that have shaped you here at Babcock University Schools, Ogba, Lagos. You have been trained not just to succeed but to succeed with integrity.”

He urged them to demonstrate resilience, creativity, faith and strong moral foundations as they begin a new chapter of their lives.

“There will be challenges, but always remember that your response to challenges will determine your growth,” he added.

The principal also celebrated the outstanding performance of the school’s students in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

He disclosed that Miss Charles Lois emerged as the school’s overall best UTME candidate with a score of 327, followed by Adeniyi Ayanfe with 323, while Obioma Oyinyechi scored 300.

“We celebrate the outstanding performance of Miss Charles Lois, who emerged our overall best candidate with a remarkable score of 327, closely followed by Adeniyi Ayanfe with 323, while Obioma Oyinyechi recorded an impressive score of 300,” Adebayo said.

He also commended the overall best graduating student and Head Girl, Adebowale Idunuoluwa, while appreciating parents, guardians, teachers and other members of staff for their contributions to the students’ achievements.

The guest speaker, Prof. Constance Nwosu, Special Adviser to the President/Vice-Chancellor of Babcock University on Faith Integration, urged the graduating students to pursue success beyond academic achievement.

Speaking on the theme, “Success Beyond Academics: The Place of Morals, Values, and Hard Work,” Nwosu said academic success without morals, values and hard work does not constitute true success.

She said, “Academic success without morals, values and hard work does not represent true success. It is skewed, unprofitable and dangerous.”

Nwosu explained that meaningful success must combine academic excellence with high moral standards, deeply rooted values and hard work.
