The Politician and War Between the Land and Sea favourites confirmed to join Industry for fifth season

The cast for Industry season 5 continues to grow, as Russell Tovey (The War Between the Land and the Sea) and Ben Platt (The Politician) have officially joined in new roles.

In the fifth and final season of the HBO/BBC drama, Tovey will play Declan P Davis, who is the deputy to a left-wing politician called Nikesh Shah. Shah is being played by another new cast member, Bally Gill, whose role was announced last month.

Meanwhile, Platt will be playing Matt Crenshaw, a venture capitalist and an early backer of a wellness-tech company. His storyline will reportedly also involve previously announced additions to the cast Zosia Mamet and Dianna Agron, who play Carmen Dame, a fitness influencer turned wellness tech founder and CEO, and Skip Binksy, CFO of a wellness tech company, respectively.

Other new stars who have previously been announced as joining the series include Cary Elwes as an investor, Sam Riley as an elusive British businessman, Jessica Brown Findlay as a family friend of Sir Henry Muck, Luke Manley as an execution trader and Eduard Poliakov as a trader.

They will be seen alongside returning stars including Myha'la as Harper Stern, Marisa Abela as Yasmin Kara-Hanani, Kit Harington as Sir Henry Muck and Miriam Petche as Sweetpea Golightly.

Filming is currently underway on the new season, which has once again been written by show creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay.

When season 5 was first confirmed, Down and Kay said in a joint statement: "We’re privileged to have joined the small, esteemed club of dramas that have run for five seasons on HBO.

"This March marks a decade since we first began to conceive of the world of Industry and it exists because of the unwavering faith and vision of our partners and former partners at HBO — Casey, Frannie, Kara, Cela, Sam, Kathleen, and Max.
