2027: Tinubu ‘ll take Nigeria from reforms to prosperity, First Lady declares

Translate

ABUJA — THE First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Saturday declared that President Bola Tinubu would move Nigeria “from reforms to prosperity” if given a second term in 2027.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu made the declaration as the All Progressives Congress (APC) launched a forceful North-Central endorsement of the Tinubu–Shettima ticket in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Addressing a massive crowd of party supporters at the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network Grand Rally, Mrs Tinubu said the administration had passed the most difficult stage of its economic reforms and was now positioned to deliver tangible gains to Nigerians.

“President Tinubu is a man who believes in the unity, security and prosperity of our nation,” she said.

“The Independence Day message of Mr President was titled ‘From Reforms to Prosperity.’ Now is the time for prosperity, and we can see that our economy is stabilising.”

The First Lady defended the administration’s economic direction, pointing to exchange-rate movement, investor confidence and infrastructure projects by state governments as evidence that the reforms were beginning to yield results.

“Foreign exchange is going down, and investors are coming back to Nigeria,” she said. “Our farmers too — you can see all our governors here; they are doing infrastructural development like no other time before.”

She also said the Federal Government was confronting food insecurity through nutrition-focused interventions for children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.

“We have just finished the food bank programme, where we are helping every child and mothers who are pregnant and breastfeeding,” Mrs Tinubu said. “This is to ensure that they can have more nutritious food, and also the children that are malnourished can get treatment and food to grow healthy.”

In a direct appeal to delegates and supporters from across the six North-Central states and the Federal Capital Territory, the First Lady urged them to take the administration’s message back to their communities and mobilise for the APC in 2027.

“Tell everyone that Mr President Bola Tinubu is a leader who is very bold,” she said.

“He will not stop at home; he takes difficult decisions. He is a leader who can be trusted to lead us into prosperity.”

“Vote for continuity, vote for capacity, vote for prosperity. Vote for the re-election of Mr President and all the candidates of the APC from top to bottom,” she added.

The rally, hosted by Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, drew APC governors, federal lawmakers, ministers and party leaders from the zone.

APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda described the gathering as a demonstration of the region’s collective commitment to the President’s re-election.

The six APC governors in the North-Central endorsed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima for a second term, while Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, declared that the zone had adopted the President as its sole presidential candidate for 2027.

Other speakers echoed the First Lady’s position, insisting that a vote for Tinubu, Shettima and the APC in the 2027 general election would consolidate the administration’s reforms rather than reverse them.
