Mumbai and Railways head into their Ranji Trophy Group D clash at the Brabourne Stadium from contrasting positions.

Mumbai has won all three matches with bonus points, while Railways has managed just two points from its campaign so far and will be keen to turn things around.

The 42-time champion will look to carry its winning momentum forward, as its batting unit has found contributions from different quarters. Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and captain Siddhesh Lad will be among the key players to watch as Mumbai looks to build on its recent performances at a venue that is familiar territory, even though it is technically the away side.

The Brabourne Stadium surface has a tinge of green, which could offer some assistance to the seamers early on. However, Mumbai’s spin duo of Tanush Kotian and Shams Mulani could have a significant say as the match progresses and the pitch begins to wear.

Mumbai has retained the same squad that featured in its previous outing against Haryana, opting for continuity after three convincing results.

For Railways, the challenge is not just about finding a way past an in-form Mumbai side. Despite Brabourne being its designated home ground, the venue has not quite provided the comfort and familiarity that usually come with playing at home.

Captain Bhargav Merai acknowledged that the team having different home bases over the last few years has affected its performances. The constant change of venues, he admitted, has made it difficult for Railways to establish a settled home environment.

With two points to show for its efforts, Railways will be eager to put that uncertainty behind it and produce a performance that can give its campaign some direction. Mumbai, meanwhile, will look to maintain its winning run and inch closer to sealing a knockout berth.
