Of the two major ongoing projects in George RR Martin's wider universe, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is the one that feels like it has sucked up all the momentum right now. The first season of the HBO adaptation went down very well with both fans and critics, with the show currently sitting on a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and 8.6/10 on IMDB.

The smaller scale of the production has worked massively in its favor so far, and it offers something different to longtime fans, moving away from the politics and intrigue that defined Game of Thrones. Given all of that success, it feels like only a matter of time before we start seeing it crop up in all sorts of other mediums to capitalize on its popularity.

Now, the first shoots of that have started to show, confirming that a new release is coming in the Winter that fans will almost certainly want to be involved in.

Over on SciFiHobby.com, manufacturer Rittenhouse Archives confirmed the Winter 2026 release of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1, a brand-new trading card set based on the first season of the HBO show. The only unfortunate thing is that they have yet to release any further details on what fans can expect from the cards, but if their other efforts are anything to go by, there should be some interesting chase options.

On October 21, the company is also releasing their second series for House of the Dragon, with many of the cards featuring handwritten signatures from members of the cast. The Base Set features 65 cards (3 cards for each episode & 41 Character Cards), while the Bonus Set includes Autograph Cards from more than 30 different signers, and Hand-Drawn Sketch Cards from over 30 artists.

The big chase for fans will be the "All Must Choose" Black (CT1) and Green (CT2) Metal Card Case Topper (one included per case), and the Emma D'Arcy/Matt Smith Dual Autograph Card and Rhys Ifans/Olivia Cooke Dual Autograph Card both of which are only found once in every eight cases.

It's a safe assumption that the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms set will follow a relatively similar format, though there could obviously be a few changes to the specifics.

Peter Claffey stars in HBO's Game of thrones prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

The second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms also recently wrapped filming, though we only have a release window right now of early-to-mid 2027. The entire thing is currently only predicted to run for three seasons, though showrunner Ira Parker has previously publicly expressed a desire for it to go on considerably longer than that. If it continues to draw in viewers like it is, though, it would be a shock if HBO don't try to get as much out of it as possible.
