EastEnders' Kat issues deadly threat in new twist in early iPlayer release

EastEnders spoilers follow for Thursday’s episode (17 September), which is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.

EastEnders' Kat Moon has made a deadly threat against another Albert Square resident as she desperately searches for answers about her daughter Zoe Slater’s death. Kat has been consumed by grief for Zoe this week – while Max Branning has been consumed by guilt, as he was with Zoe in her final hours and ignored her cries for help.

In today’s episode, Kat continued to struggle, and she broke down in tears when the police arrived and explained that Zoe’s cause of death had been confirmed as a bleed on the brain, after she hit her head earlier that day.

Kat raged at the police for not responding to the 999 call that Zoe made, but she was blinded when it was revealed that dying Zoe said the phrase “he left me” down the phone.

Realising that someone was with Zoe that night and left her to die, Kat wanted more information, but the police needed to investigate the situation further.

Meanwhile, Max was concerned when he saw Oscar chatting to Jasmine, and also gathered that he had spent the previous night with Josh. Max confronted his son, having asked him to stay away from the twins to help keep his Zoe secret under wraps.

When Alfie urged Kat not to get wrapped up in this mystery about Zoe, she snapped at him. Alfie then headed to the allotments to spend some time with the Walford men and process his own grief.

Sharon visited Kat to offer her support, and when Kat explained about Zoe’s call to the police, Sharon decided to help. The pair headed to see Jack and persuaded him to get Zoe’s phone records – and Max realised that his secret was under serious threat.

Jack later visited with the phone records, and Kat found one number that contacted Zoe on the day of her death that didn’t belong to anyone in the family.

Kat marched into the Square to furiously confront her prime suspect – not Max, but Zack. But Zack was baffled by Kat’s outburst and reasoned that he only phoned Zoe about a delivery that day.

As Kat even accused Sharon of lying to her, Max encouraged her to let it go as looking for someone to blame wouldn’t get her anywhere.

Later, back in The Vic, Kat told Max that she was determined to find out which man left Zoe to die and threatened to kill him when she does. Will Max be able to keep the truth under wraps for much longer?
