While there is new content being released to Netflix on a weekly basis, there are some movies and TV shows that cut through to become sensations. This includes dramatic shows like Squid Game, a Korean-language drama that took the world by storm. Movie-wise, some of its most successful films in recent years have including conspiracy thrillers like Carry-On, or last year's family-friendly animated sensation KPop Demon Hunters. It takes a lot for a Netflix title to set records for streaming, but those that come out on top say a lot about audiences' interests.

The current buzzworthy movie on Netflix is Collision Course. Like many of the platform's previous hit movies (Troll and Under Paris being the other big ones), this is a non-English-language film, the majority of it being in Spanish. Collision Course is a crime-thriller about a group of robbers that take over a Madrid bank during a major economic crisis, which subsequently triggers a battle for survival where the stakes could not be higher. The Spanish-language feature is helmed by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo, and features a leading cast of Laia Costa, Karra Elejalde, Tamar Novas, and Luis Zahera.

Collision Course Is Netflix's #1 Movie In The World

Now, just two days after its October 30 release on the platform, Collision Course has become a huge success on Netflix. The movie has opened to become the no. 1 film in the world, according to recent streaming data. This includes particular success across Spanish-speaking regions including Argentina, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Spain, all of which currently have Collision Course as their no.1 movie. The film also reached no. 3 status in the United States, and is on top 5 lists globally.

The movie is not popular enough yet to have amassed a Rotten Tomatoes score, but it is clear that audiences are responding positively, at least in their interest. It is too early to reach Netflix's list for their weekly Tudum rankings, but at this point it seems certain that Collision Course will be towards the top of the lists for the platform, in many markets.

Collision Course Is A Perfect Money Heist Replacement

Collision Course is an appealing title to fans of Netflix's popular Spanish-language series Money Heist. This series, now a multi-show franchise, also involves bank robbery in high-stakes situations. The show was a big hit when originally running on Netflix, and will likely have a lot of crossover viewership with fans of Collision Course, making the movie a great one for such fans to check out.
