Translate

A one-year-old child has died in a house fire in Western Australia's South West, with authorities investigating the cause of the blaze.

Firefighters extinguished the fire at the home in Collie, 200 kilometres south of Perth, on Sunday afternoon, before the child's body was located.

Police said several people were inside at the time of the fire but managed to escape safely.

Arson Squad officers are yet to determine the cause of the blaze.

But a WA Police spokesperson said the child's death was not being treated as suspicious and that a report would be prepared for the coroner.

Community members have left flowers and messages of support for the family on the front lawn of the property.
