The Senate of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Kogi State, has expelled one student and rusticated two others for one academic session over various acts of misconduct.

According to a statement by the institution on Tuesday, the decisions were taken at the university’s 33rd Regular Senate Meeting held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, following the consideration of reports submitted by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee.

The expelled student, Samuel Asipita David, a 300-level student of Electrical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering, was found culpable of involvement in a fight involving students and providing false information to the Students’ Disciplinary Committee during his initial appearance.

“The Senate found him culpable of the offences and approved his expulsion in accordance with Section 7.2, Subsection 33 of the Students’ Handbook, Second Edition (as amended, 2025),” the statement read.

In a separate case, the Senate rusticated a 200-level Common Law student, Abdullahi Zeinulabideen Ozovehe, for one academic session.

Ozovehe was found culpable of tampering with a CCTV camera at the Faculty of Law.

“Consequently, Senate approved his rustication for one session with immediate effect, pursuant to the relevant provisions of the Students’ Handbook and the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara Law, 2020,” the statement read.

Another 200-level Common Law student, Olumide Miracle Eniola, was also rusticated for one academic session.

Eniola was found culpable of an offence involving placing her legs on a male student’s lap.

“Similarly, Olumide Miracle Eniola, also a 200 level student of the Department of Common Law, Faculty of Law, with Matric Number 25L1LW4927, was rusticated for one academic session after being found culpable of an offence involving placing her legs on a male student’s lap,” the statement read.

“The sanction was imposed in accordance with relevant provisions of the Students’ Handbook and the CUSTECH Law, 2020,” it added.

The university said the disciplinary decisions followed due process, with the affected students appearing before the Students’ Disciplinary Committee for investigation before the committee submitted its reports to the Senate for consideration.

“The University’s disciplinary decisions followed the established process under which the affected students appeared before the Students’ Disciplinary Committee for investigation, after which the Committee submitted its reports to the Senate for consideration,” the statement read.
