TAWAU, Sept 12 — Malaysia has prepared an action plan to deal with the possibility of haze occurring during the 2027 SEA Games, which the country will host, said Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Mordi Bimol.

“Preparations for the SEA Games are progressing smoothly, with no problems.

“However, following the recent haze, if it possibly occurs around the same period when the Games are being held, we have certain plans in place and are prepared,” he told reporters after a town hall session in conjunction with the 2026 Kembara Inspirasi Belia Akar Umbi (Kibar) series 2 programme at the Sabah state-level here today.

Mordi also said that preparations for sports facilities and accommodation for the SEA Games were also progressing smoothly.

“There are no problems with the facilities, especially in Sarawak, which is one of the co-hosts. Everything is progressing smoothly,” he said, adding that a trial programme would be conducted as a test round for the sports facilities before the 2027 SEA Games begin.

As for today’s programme, Mordi said Kibar was held to engage with youths, particularly those in rural areas, and hear their aspirations, while encouraging them to seize opportunities provided by the government to enhance their skills and income. — Bernama
