Coronation Street's Abi becomes secret spy in emotional Debbie story

Coronation Street's Abi Webster is set to become a secret spy for Debbie, who believes her husband Ronnie Bailey is having an affair. Next week Debbie will piece together some of Ronnie's suspicious behaviour and conclude that he's seeing another woman.

As Debbie's symptoms get worse Ronnie tries to play along, including when she shows up to work at the hotel on her day off. There Debbie observes Ronnie thanking Ryan Connor helping to keep her busy and gets upset, thinking they are talking about her.

There's also a scary moment at home when Ronnie catches Debbie poking a knife into the toaster and he quickly pulls out the plug. Debbie accuses Ronnie of treating her like a toddler but he's scared about what could have happened if she'd been alone.

Later Debbie's worst fears are realised when she discovers a leaflet about care homes in the bin while Ronnie is out. With Ronnie having just turned down the chance for some afternoon delight Debbie becomes convinced that he's seeing someone else.

In a preview clip for Wednesday's episode (14 October), Debbie tells Abi she thinks Ronnie’s seeing someone else, filling her in on Ronnie’s recent suspicious behaviour.

While Abi manages to assuage Debbie’s fears somewhat, she agrees to keep an eye on him. As an oblivious Ronnie returns, the women share a conspiratorial look.

"Don't forget Debbie tried to end her relationship with Ronnie when she received her dementia diagnosis. She's always been scared of giving her heart to him, and now she feels him slipping away…"
