Charges after Monash Freeway aggravated burglary arrests

Five males arrested in a dramatic police operation on Melbourne's Monash Freeway yesterday have been charged.
Cars were rammed and freeway traffic was brought to a standstill as more than a dozen police officers, many dressed in tactical gear, detained the males near Chadstone at midday.
Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged five people following an alleged aggravated burglary in Brighton East and a pursuit that ended on the Monash Freeway yesterday.
Police alleged a four-wheel drive and an SUV were stolen after a home invasion in Brighton East early yesterday and used in a second aggravated burglary in Hampton Park a few hours later.
The four-wheel drive was spotted being driven erratically in Doveton about 8am, sparking a police pursuit through multiple eastern and south-eastern suburbs on Eastlink and the Monash Freeway.
The vehicle was intercepted by specialist police who arrested three 16-year-old boys, a 17-year-old, and a 19-year-old and 20-year-old man.

They have all been charged with various offences, including aggravated burglary, car theft and armed robbery.
One of the 16-year-olds has also been charged with intentional aggravated exposure of emergency worker to risk by driving, reckless conduct endangering life, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and unlicensed driving.
Another 16-year-old has been charged with committing an offence whilst on bail.
The teenagers have been remanded in custody to appear in a children's court.
The 19-year-old Cranbourne East man will appear in the Dandenong Magistrates' Court today.
The 20-year-old Wheelers Hill man remains in hospital under police guard.
