PETALING JAYA, Oct 1 — Mercedes will roll out a striking new look at this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, with the W17 set to carry a special Petronas inspired livery.

The Silver Arrows’ challenger will feature flashes of green alongside its trademark black, paying tribute to the team’s title partner as Formula 1 returns to Sepang for the first time since 2017.

Team Principal Toto Wolff said the venue holds particular significance for Mercedes.

“This weekend has extra significance for us because of our long-standing relationship with Petronas.

“It’s fantastic to see Formula 1 returning to Sepang and we should also recognise the effort that has gone into making this Grand Prix happen. It has required strong collaboration between Malaysia and Bahrain, and that deserves credit,” he said.

Wolff added that Sepang remains one of the toughest circuits on the calendar.

“You need performance in the high-speed corners, good traction, strong tyre management and consistency in hot, challenging conditions. It is one of the more complete tests on the calendar.”
