Lauren Alaina and Chase Matthew earn their fourth and second No. 1, respectively, on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart (dated Oct. 24) as “All My Exes” jumps four spots on 31 million audience impressions, up 28% week over week, Oct. 9-15, according to Luminate.

Written by Alaina, Jimmy Gutch, Ben Johnson and Whitney Phillips, the song draws on a relationship of the American Idol alum’s in her early 20s. She had last reached the summit alongside HARDY and Devin Dawson on “One Beer” in 2020. Matthew’s “Darlin’” was a three-week leader last November.

“All My Exes” is the third collaborative No. 1 this year, among 20 total new chart-toppers, after Ella Langley and Morgan Wallen’s “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” which led for two weeks in August, and Shaboozey and Jelly Roll’s “Amen,” a two-week No. 1 in the spring.

Despite that 15% share, and with collaborations having accounted for just 8% of the chart’s 998 No. 1s since its January 1990 launch, such leaders have risen each decade — from 2% in the 1990s to 5% in the 2000s, 9% in the 2010s and 20% in the 2020s. Even so, team-ups have come in waves, from 31% of all No. 1s in 2022 and a high of 33% in 2024 to quieter stretches between.

Chris Jason’s Having ‘Fun’ on the Chart

Another collaboration debuts as Chris Janson’s “Fun,” featuring David Lee Murphy, launches at No. 60 (994,000). Released digitally in March, the song grew out of a guitar jam between the two friends. Janson and Murphy wrote it with Jesse Murphy, Michael Wayne Wilkes and Mitchell Oglesby.

“Fun” marks Janson’s 19th Country Airplay entry, a group that includes six top 10s, led by the 2019-20 No. 1s “Good Vibes” and “Done.” David Lee Murphy has charted 16 titles, likewise with six top 10s and two No. 1s: “Dust on the Bottle,” which led for two weeks in 1995, and 2018’s one-week leader “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright,” with Kenny Chesney.

All charts dated Oct. 24 will update Tuesday, Oct. 20, on Billboard.com.
