Kelly Osbourne pays tribute to ‘imperfectly human’ Amy Winehouse on her birthday

She and Osbourne, 41, were close friends, with the TV personality paying tribute to Winehouse several times in the years since her death.

To mark Winehouse’s birthday – September 14 – Osbourne shared a series of photos of them together over the years, including posing in photoshoots, shopping together, and also of her friend with her late father, Ozzy Osbourne.

She wrote in the Instagram post: “Happy birthday, my beautiful Amy.

“There are some people who come into your life and leave footprints on your heart so deep that time could never possibly erase them. You are one of those people.

“When I think of you, I don’t think of the headlines, the photographs, or the noise. I think of your laugh. Your wicked sense of humour. The little moments nobody else saw. The nights we laughed until our stomachs hurt, your meat balls, the conversations that only best friends could understand, and that extraordinary heart you carried beneath all that brilliance.”

She continued: “You were magic, Amy. Beautifully, wildly, imperfectly human and so very loved. Today, I hope wherever you are, you are surrounded by the kind of peace you deserved here.”

Osbourne said Winehouse was “still loved, still missed, still spoken about with laughter and tears, and still carried in the hearts of the people lucky enough to have known you”.

“I miss you in ways words will never quite manage to explain. So today I won’t say goodbye. I’ll simply say what I wish I could have said to you every year: Happy birthday, sweetheart. I love you. I always will. Keep singing somewhere beautiful. Until we meet again.”

Winehouse skyrocketed to global success after the release of her 2006 album Back To Black.

The singer, who was open about her struggles with alcohol and drugs throughout her career, became one of the musicians associated with the so-called “27 club” after she died at that age.

In July last year, Osbourne’s father Ozzy, the Black Sabbath frontman, died aged 76.

As she marked the one-year anniversary of his death, Osbourne said she still “aches every single day”.

In a tribute posted on social media she wrote: “One year ago today, the world changed forever.

“Today, I sit here beside you in a way I never thought would be possible. I know you are still with me.”

Osbourne detailed how living without her father “has been the hardest thing I have ever had to endure” and said: “Now all I have are memories. But my God, what beautiful memories they are.

“Even through all the madness we lived through, you somehow made every moment worthwhile.”

She then recounted fond memories with her father and said: “I have never loved anyone or anything as deeply as uniquely as I love you.

“And now I carry all of that love with nowhere to place it except within me, my son, and mumma.

“It aches every single day, but it is also the greatest privilege of my life. To have loved someone so completely.”
