Scotland lose Ritchie and Millar Mills through injury

Translate

Glasgow Warriors flanker Jamie Ritchie and Newcastle Red Bulls prop Elliot Millar Mills have dropped out of Scotland's Nations Championship squad after picking up injuries for their clubs over the weekend.

Uncapped Ollie Blyth-Lafferty, fellow Edinburgh prop D'arcy Rae and back-row clubmate Freddy Douglas have been called up as replacements.

Ritchie, who has 63 caps, joined Glasgow from Perpignan this summer. However, the 30-year-old only made his debut last month after being sidelined for the opening months of the season because of ankle and Achilles tendon issues.

He started in the 24-20 win away to Benetton. But he came off with a knee injury after only 10 minutes of Friday's 29-20 win over Lions that took Glasgow to the top of the United Rugby Championship.

Millar Mills lasted 55 minutes of Newcastle's 59-26 defeat away to Northampton Saints in England's Premiership before the 34-year-old suffered a leg injury that will delay hopes of adding to his 15 caps.

Meanwhile, Sale Sharks scrum-half Gus Warr, who already has two caps, will join up with the squad for training this week along with uncapped Glasgow back Josh McKay, who is continuing his rehab from a hamstring injury.

Scotland entertain New Zealand on Saturday, 7 November before hosting Australia eight days later, then Japan on 21 November.
