'Stand for what's true': Priyanka Gandhi's emotional message for son after over 70 images removed from exhibition

Priyanka Gandhi backs son Raihan after over 70 artworks are reportedly removed from his exhibition

NEW DELHI: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday shared an emotional message for her son Raihan Vadra after more than 70 artworks were reportedly removed from his photography exhibition at Delhi's Bikaner House over their alleged political content."When someone with power becomes afraid of the expression of another, he doesn’t know it, but he has already lost the very power he is trying to protect," she said."You stand for what is true and everything beautiful will find its way to you. I am proud of you, always will be," she added, signing off as "mama".

Raihan had alleged that the Bikaner House management asked him to remove photographs depicting protests by young people in Delhi from his exhibition, titled "No Idea Is Final".

He also claimed that he was instructed to remove two images featuring the Tricolour. In a statement shared on Wednesday, Raihan said he had refused to remove the images of the national flag and that the exhibition would proceed in a limited capacity. He said he would look for an alternative venue to display the complete collection of protest photographs. The alleged removal of the artworks drew criticism from Congress leaders, including Priyanka's husband Robert Vadra, Rajya Sabha MP Pawan Khera and MP Karti Chidambaram.Khera alleged that 74 artworks, nearly half the exhibition, had been taken down for being “political”. He questioned why photographs documenting protests and an image of the national flag had been objected to.
