No Rohingya among 10,000 repatriated so far, says Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: None of the more than 10,000 Myanmar nationals repatriated from Malaysia so far was from the Rohingya community, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar told the Dewan Rakyat that the repatriation programme covered Myanmar nationals regardless of their ethnicity, including those from Arakan, Karen and Shan.

The programme also includes Rohingya communities, he said.

"In the records we have kept so far, there have been no Rohingyas sent back.

"However, this is still under discussion, and I believe the Foreign Minister (Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan) and I will raise this issue when we meet President Min Aung Hlaing in the coming days, so that it can be addressed as best as possible," he said.

Anwar said this in response to a supplementary question from Suhaizan Kaiat (PH-Pulai) on whether the 1,400 Myanmar nationals recently repatriated by a Myanmar naval vessel included Rohingya.
