NBC Developing Series Based On Finland’s ‘66th North Precinct’ From ‘The Irrational’ Creator Arika Mittman

EXCLUSIVE: NBC is developing a drama series based on the popular Finnish series 66th North Precinct from The Irrational creator and showrunner Arika Lisanne Mittman, Elevate Entertainment and Universal Television.
The logline for the as-yet-untitled project can be found below.
A compelling and darkly comedic procedural about a former pro boxer who returns with her family to her southern Colorado hometown, rebuilding her life as a Sheriff’s deputy, solving case-of-the-week crimes while juggling her marriage and children, still haunted by unfinished business in the ring.
The original series took place in Lapland, the largest police precinct in the world, and pulled much of its inspiration from real-life and oftentimes bizarre crimes from that region. 66th North Precinct premiered in 2023, starring Saara Kotkaniemi as the lead, Maria Pujos. The show’s second season aired last year.
In addition to Mittman, executive producers include Alex Cole and Joe Wiggins for Elevate Entertainment. This is Elevate Entertainment’s second broadcast sale this season, following ABC’s The Undertaker, which will be based on the Swiss police procedural Der Bestatte.
Mittman is best known for creating and showrunning NBC’s The Irrational, starring Jesse L. Martin, which ran for two seasons on NBC. Before that, she served as showrunner on Paradise Lost for Spectrum TV and NBC’s Timeless, and as an executive producer on NBC’s La Brea. Past credits include Showtime’s Dexter, the CBS series Elementary, and FX’s Tyrant. She is repped by Range, the Feldman Company and Yorn Levine.
