Indonesia's fuel prices among Southeast Asia's lowest: Pertamina

Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, a subsidiary of Indonesia's state-owned energy company PT Pertamina, stated that the country's motor and aviation fuel prices remain highly competitive and are among the lowest in Southeast Asia.
"Overall, our prices remain relatively lower than those of our neighboring countries,” Pertamina Patra Niaga's Director of Business Planning and Development Joko Pranoto said during the Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting here on Monday.
He noted that Indonesia offers the region's cheapest RON 92 gasoline — sold domestically as Pertamax — at Rp15,950 (US$0.89) per liter. This contrasts significantly with prices in Singapore (Rp48,514 or $2.71), the Philippines (Rp25,014 or $1.40), and Thailand (Rp21,213 or $1.18).
Indonesia also records the lowest price for RON 95 gasoline at Rp19,150 ($1.07) per liter, slightly more affordable than in Malaysia (Rp19,822 or $1.11), Thailand (Rp21,412 or $1.20), the Philippines (Rp25,288 or $1.41), and Singapore (Rp48,795 or $2.72).
Regarding aviation fuel, Pertamina noted that Indonesia maintains the lowest prices in the region. Aviation fuel in Indonesia is priced at Rp20,190 ($1.13) per liter, compared to Vietnam at Rp20,619 ($1.15), Thailand at Rp33,377 ($1.86), Singapore at Rp44,202 ($2.47), and Malaysia at Rp46,006 ($2.57).
Meanwhile, Indonesia ranks third-cheapest for diesel in Southeast Asia at Rp25,200 ($1.41) per liter. Vietnam offers the region's most affordable diesel at Rp21,038 ($1.17) per liter, followed by Malaysia at Rp23,988 ($1.34).
"When comparing our motor and aviation fuel prices with those of neighboring countries, we are highly competitive overall," Pranoto concluded.
