Finding your balance
Libra season invites us to slow down, step back and weigh what truly deserves our energy

Before rushing your next big decision, let the quiet energy of the scales help you weigh your true priorities.
When the gods left Earth because of humanity’s descent, Astraea, the goddess of justice, was the last deity to remain behind, teaching peace to humankind. Eventually, she grew tired of the conflicts among people and ascended into the night sky. The “scales” in her hands, which weighed good and evil, became the constellation Libra, quietly reminding us to find our way back to the balance deep within our souls.
The season of Libra (9/23–10/22) arrives right around the autumnal equinox, when day and night are of equal length. This energy brings us an impartial reminder. The plans we have been working on over the past few months have gone through initiation, action, alignment, and calibration. Now, as we enter Libra season, it is almost like a plant assessing the coming winter after the harvest of autumn: how many leaves need to consciously fall away in order to preserve enough energy? In the same way, after our plans have gone through calibration, we also need to take another look: will the resources, time and energy we intend to invest from here on conflict with our own physical and emotional well-being?

If holding on too tightly causes us to fall behind schedule, then we need to refocus our time and energy on the goal. On the other hand, if over-investing in a plan leaves us depleted or out of balance, Libra season is here to remind us that it may be time to learn how to find a brand-new point of balance between “life” and “plans.”
This is not necessarily a period suited to making immediate decisions, which may leave those accustomed to taking quick action feeling somewhat restrained. Yet this seemingly paused and hesitant period happens to be the best objective perspective Libra has to offer us. When we are too deeply immersed in the habitual flow of everyday life, it is often difficult to step back and see, from a complete perspective, the imbalances hidden within the details — or the other possibilities that may exist.
As the only sign among the twelve zodiac signs represented by something non-living, Libra’s pure image as an object is precisely meant to point out the importance of “finding balance in life.” As human beings, “moving toward perfection” is ultimately an imaginary question. Finding a way to bring ourselves back into balance is far more grounded and tangible than becoming perfect.
Therefore, this month, I would suggest consciously slowing down your state of mind. When challenges or unexpected events arise, instead of rushing to look for a solution, why not take a step back and quietly observe what unfolds from the perspective of an observer? Immediate action does not necessarily lead to the best solution during Libra season. There is a certain kind of magic to this period: sometimes, we think our position on something should be A, but when we zoom out and look at the bigger picture over a longer timeline, we realize that where we truly belong is actually C. If there is a contradiction between A and C, making a decision too quickly may only leave us regretting that we did not see the whole picture clearly. Giving ourselves some time allows us not to get lost in the gap between different perspectives.
As the old saying goes, “You cannot have both the fish and the bear’s paw,” teaching us to weigh our choices and make trade-offs. But the fun of life lies precisely in the fact that multiple perspectives and experiences can coexist at the same time. The month of Libra is here to guide us toward looking at life’s possibilities from a different angle — perhaps the fish and the bear’s paw can both be had, as long as we are willing to patiently search for the dynamic balance in which the two can support one another.
For Capricorns, this Libra season is a particularly good time to take more advice from the Libra friends around you. Perhaps something that has been making you anxious or panicked for quite some time is actually not as frightening as you imagined. The Libra perspective can help you step outside your anxiety and see the truth more clearly and objectively.
For Geminis, if you are currently juggling several people, things and situations, a turning point that allows you to finally relax will arrive this month. Maybe a few of those things will finally settle down, someone will be willing to take over, or perhaps you will simply get some time off. Either way, this month you will finally be freed, at least a little, from the chaos of having too many things pulling you in different directions. Congratulations!
May we all find the best solution for our own unique scales, and truly enjoy this Libra season—a time when we can, quite reasonably, slow down without having to feel guilty about it.
