Meghan offered Magic Radio show as Harry says she ‘loves’ station

The Duchess of Sussex has been offered a show on her favourite radio station Magic, with the Duke of Sussex agreeing to take the idea back to his wife.

Harry, who returned to the UK with Meghan and their children last month after six years away in the US, was interviewed by the easy listening station at the WellChild Awards on Monday.

Rumours have abounded as to how former Suits star Meghan will spend her time, amid suggestions she is set to start acting again, with speculation she had been in talks for a role in The Gentlemen.

Page Six meanwhile revealed the first photos of the duchess since she set up home in the UK, showing her socialising at a pub with American ex-pat comic Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi.

Presenter Gaby Roslin, who hosted the awards, joked with Harry, asking him during a playful exchange: “Do you want a show on Magic? … Your wife could do a show on Magic. She loves Magic.”

Harry replied: “She does love Magic. That’s true.”

Roslin added: “What show would she like to do?”

Harry remarked: “We haven’t talked about it. I can take this back to her,” before Roslin shouts: “Christmas show! Christmas show!”

The duchess told Queer Eye star Tan France on her With Love, Meghan Netflix series last year that “honestly, one of the things I miss the most about the UK is the radio station called Magic”.

France told her: “Sorry to say this to you publicly, but that’s such a grandma station,” with Meghan laughing and adding: “I’ll be that grandma.”

Harry has a history of scouting work for Meghan, with the duke once heard telling a Walt Disney executive at the Lion King premiere in 2019: “You know she does voiceovers… She’s really interested.”

In the brief on-camera interview with Roslin, Harry suggested people in the UK have become “very insular” and need to “do better as a society” – but admitted he could be wrong because “I’ve been away for a while”.

He called on people across the country to be more community-minded and offer support to parents who are caring for seriously ill children.

“I think we have to do better as a society, not just WellChild, but up and down the country, to be able to acknowledge and recognise those living around us more,” Harry said.

“I think we’ve become very insular. Obviously, I’ve been away for a while, so maybe I’m wrong.

“But certainly, when I hear these stories, that these parents really need a day off. They really need a night off, and to just go on a date, and therefore find your neighbour or your neighbour’s neighbour, someone that you can train up… Community. That’s what it’s all about.”

He also praised WellChild nurses as he marked the 20th anniversary of the charity’s specialist nursing programme, and spoke about the challenges facing all in the industry.

“Look, every nurse up and down the country is feeling it. I mean, people everywhere are really feeling it. Like, times are hard, times are tough,” the duke said.

Roslin, who has worked with Harry supporting WellChild for nearly 20 years, gave him a big hug as she thanked him for the time he spent with the young award winners.

“You are wonderful with them, and they so love seeing you. It’s a pleasure. I adore you,” she added.

Harry’s public appearance came the night before his uncle Earl Spencer’s controversial book about Diana, Princess of Wales hit the shelves.

Charles Spencer told People magazine that Harry was “completely fine” with the new memoir, which included claims the King told the earl “we’ll forget her soon enough” after Diana died.
