Louis Oosthuizen to carry SA flag for Springboks-All Blacks Test

South African sporting greatness will take centre stage in Baltimore on Saturday when golf major champion Louis Oosthuizen carries the national flag before the Springboks face the All Blacks.

Kick-off is at 23:00 (SA time).

Oosthuizen has been selected as South Africa’s flag bearer for the fourth and final Test of Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry, adding another proud chapter to an illustrious sporting career.

Represented South Africa with distinction

The 2010 Open champion has represented South Africa with distinction for more than two decades, with his greatest achievement coming at St Andrews 16 years ago.

Louis Oosthuizen produced a stunning performance at The Open in 2010, winning the Claret Jug by seven strokes after taking the lead in the second round.

His 16-under-par winning total remains one of the most memorable performances in the championship’s modern history.

Famous victory

His major record extends well beyond that famous victory.

The South African has finished runner-up at all four majors – The Masters, PGA Championship, US Open and The Open – highlighting his remarkable consistency at the highest level of world golf.

Louis Oosthuizen also reached a career-high fourth position in the Official World Golf Ranking and has collected victories on the European Tour and around the world.

He joined LIV Golf in 2022 and continues to compete at the highest level, while also serving as captain of Southern Guards GC.

On Saturday, though, Oosthuizen’s attention will turn from golf to rugby.

He will stand proudly with the South African flag alongside Siya Kolisi as Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika is sung before an estimated 70 000 supporters at M&T Bank Stadium.
