Selma Blair Arrested After Allegedly Biting Flight Attendant and Trying to Open Plane Door; Rep Says She Suffered ‘Medical Emergency’

Selma Blair was arrested on Sunday after an alleged violent incident on a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York, Variety has confirmed.

The “Legally Blonde” actress allegedly punched one flight attendant and bit another after attempting to open the plane door while in the air, per TMZ. Law enforcement was parked at the gate and responded to the incident once the aircraft landed in in New York, where the 54-year-old Blair was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation. Two flight attendants reported injuries, with one receiving care at a hospital.

A representative for Blair told TMZ: “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.”

The Port Authority confirmed Blair’s identity to Variety. A source says the FBI is currently investigating the incident.

In a statement to Variety, a Delta Airlines spokesperson said, “Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first.”

Despite the chaos on board, there was no operational impact to the flight, which landed at John F. Kennedy airport at approximately 11 p.m., ahead of schedule.

This is not the first time Blair has experienced an outburst on a plane. In 2016, she was removed from a flight on a stretcher while traveling with her 4-year-old son after she “had a total psychotic blackout.” Blair chalked up the incident to drinking a glass of wine and taking a pill, saying at the time, “It was horrible and frightening and I had empathy for myself actually afterwards because it was actually so out of character for me, especially because I’m a mother.”
