ALOR GAJAH, Sept 17 — The date for the dissolution of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly to pave the way for the state election has yet to be set, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

Ab Rauf, who is also Melaka Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, said several state administrative matters needed to be resolved first to ensure all plans proceeded smoothly before the assembly was dissolved.

“I am giving an indication that the Melaka State Assembly will be dissolved from Friday to Friday because within that period, we still have many matters that need to be resolved to govern the state,” he told reporters here today.

He was speaking after officiating the 2026 Melaka State-level Senior Citizens Day, Persons with Disabilities (PwD) Day and Children's Day celebration in conjunction with the Tanjung Bidara constituency's Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat (WRUR) programme here.

Ab Rauf said the date would be announced to the media and the public once it had been finalised.

On Tuesday, allegations went viral on WhatsApp claiming that Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Rustam had signed the Melaka State Assembly dissolution document together with Ab Rauf during a meeting at the Guest Room of the Chief Executive Officer's Office at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh.
