WAFU B U-17 Championship: Golden Eaglets Coach Optimistic Ahead Of Niger Showdown

Translate

Golden Eaglets head coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere is confident Nigeria will overcome Niger Republic in their opening match of the 2026 WAFU B U-17 Championship.

Nigeria will face Niger at the Stade du 4 Août in Ouagadougou on Tuesday, with victory set to strengthen their chances of reaching the semi-finals.

Niger began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Côte d’Ivoire, while a win for Nigeria would send the Golden Eaglets to the top of Group B and secure their place in the last four.

Despite his confidence in the team, Uwejamomere warned his players against underestimating their opponents.

“We are very, very confident because we’re Nigeria,”Eboboritse said ahead of the game.

“But we’re not overconfident because we have to respect our opponents, as they will give us a very tough battle.

“The advantage is with us because we have seen both teams play, but this could also be a disadvantage if we fail to get a result.

“A win for us will already get us into the semi-final.”
