MAG seals seven partnerships to strengthen MRO capabilities

Translate

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has entered into seven strategic partnerships with global aviation, engineering, technology and logistics companies to strengthen its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities.

Announced at MRO Asia-Pacific 2026 in Singapore, the partnerships aim to improve aircraft maintenance support, supply chain efficiency and the group's engineering operations.

The agreements with Thales, Airbus Flight Hour Services, Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance, Boeing and Collins Aerospace will improve Malaysia Airlines' access to aircraft components, repair services and technical expertise.

MAG said the collaborations would also improve the availability of critical spare parts and support maintenance planning.

Separately, its partnership with Ceva Logistics will provide integrated logistics support for aircraft components, spare parts and other materials across Malaysia Airlines' network.

MAG has also expanded its collaboration with Batik Air Malaysia, building on existing line maintenance support across multiple locations.

The group said the expanded collaboration reflected growing confidence in the technical and operational capabilities of its engineering arm, MAB Engineering Services.

MAG president and group chief executive officer Captain Nasaruddin A Bakar said the partnerships would strengthen the group's engineering operations while creating opportunities to expand its MRO business.

"These partnerships bring together global expertise, technical capabilities and supply chain support with our own engineering strengths, enabling us to better support our airlines while also creating opportunities to grow our MRO business," he said in a statement.

Nasaruddin said the aviation industry continued to face challenges, including volatile fuel prices and other cost pressures affecting operations and financial performance.

Meanwhile, MAG is expanding the role of MAB Engineering Services as an MRO service provider to external airline customers.
