Chess Olympiad 2026 Round 7 pairings: Gukesh, Praggnanandhaa face England; Humpy, Vaishali take on Germany

India will face England in the open section and Germany in the women’s section in Round 7 of the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, with the pairings for the next round now confirmed.

India endured a setback in the open section in Round 6, going down 1.5-2.5 to host Uzbekistan. The defeat left India seventh in the standings with 10 points, while Uzbekistan remained the only team with a perfect 12 points.

In the women’s section, India moved to 10 points after a convincing 3-1 win over the USA. China and Kazakhstan lead the standings with 12 points each, while India is third.

India will now look to return to winning ways in the open section against England, while the women’s team will take on Germany in Round 7.
