Congress itself, not EC, responsible for its losses: BJP

BJP National Spokesperson and MP Sudhanshu Trivedi addresses a press conference on Tuesday in New Delhi about the INDIA bloc MPs' protest march to the ECI

NEW DELHI: BJP Tuesday dismissed the march seeking CEC Gyanesh Kumar's ouster over the SIR row as the opposition venting its frustration due to continuous poll losses and said Rahul Gandhi wanted to spread chaos on the streets after failing to lead Congress to success in elections.BJP called Rahul a "slacker" who could not help but vacation abroad regularly in contrast with its own "hardworking" brass, like PM Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah.BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi cited EC's statement to accuse opposition MPs of defying constitutional norms by wanting election commissioners to meet them at its protest venue, noting that even Parliament could not call them over for a meeting."Congress's lie has been unmasked. It was never serious about giving representation to EC," he said, adding Rahul's claim to 300 MPs at the venue was also a big lie. It was just another attempt to relaunch a failed Rahul, he said."Modi cannot be removed from people's hearts through threats... EC is not responsible for Congress's defeats but its own politics and working style," Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan told reporters.

Union minister Kiren Rijiju said, "How long will this drama continue? If you serve people, you will get their mandate. If you cannot get the people's mandate, you abuse EC. When Supreme Court asks you to apologise, you attack it."BJP spokespersons, including Sambit Patra and Pradeep Bhandari, highlighted the poor electoral performance of Congress for decades.
