Dybantsa debut delayed: No. 1 pick out opener due to ankle

Translate

The Washington Wizards will have to wait a little longer before seeing the regular season debut of their No. 1 overall pick.

AJ Dybantsa will miss the team's Wednesday night season opener against the Milwaukee Bucks with an ankle injury, coach Brian Keefe announced Tuesday.

Dybantsa will be day-to-day with the injury that he suffered in Friday's preseason finale. Keefe termed the injury a mild ankle sprain on Friday.

Dybantsa fell to the ground after landing awkwardly on his left ankle following a midrange jump shot before limping to the locker room. He had scored 12 points in 15 minutes before his exit in the second quarter.

The next chance for Dybantsa to make his debut would be Friday night at home against the Toronto Raptors before the team plays at Chicago on Saturday in the first of three straight road games.
